About The Senior Citizens Club Subang Jaya
The Club was registered on 20-8-1997. The founding President was Mr. Thomas Matthews. The Club is 10 years now, and yet we do not have our own building . As from April 2006, the Management of Subang Perdana Court 2 at USJ 6 was kind enough to allow us to use 2 blocks of their former admin office at Block Q No 001 & 002. From there we conducted activities for the benefit of the Club Members. Our monthly Board of Director's meeting was held on every 3rd. Wednesday of the month at 3.00pm.
With effect from August 2008, the Management informed us to shift to Block U. We now occupy Block's 07 & 08. The Management do not collect rental from the Club. The Club pays for electricity ,water and cleaning of the premise once in 2 weeks by a contract cleaner.
We have free use of the premises from Mondays to Fridays of the week. However , if the Management requires the premise on these days, we have to allow them to use. Likewise if we need to use the premises on Saturday or Sunday, we put in written application to the Management.
We need to have our own premises. We applied to MPSJ for the piece of vacant land earmarked for community centre at USJ 11/4H padang, in-between the two half storey Kinderland Kindergarten and the TNB Sub-Station. We had "DUKACITA" reply from MPSJ.We thank Mr. Lau Bing, the Protem Chairman of the Subang Jaya Consumers's Association for stressing the need of of a building ,especially for the Senior Citizens of Subang Jaya to be included in the Structural Plan of Subang Jaya. Our very elderly Senior Citizens have no place to meet to pass their time, rather than feel lonely at home. The currrent President Mr. Yeong Teik Boon took ovcr from Mr. Thomas Matthews in 2004 . The Club now has 510 members, of which 395 are Life members, and 115 Ordinary and Associate Members. Membership is open to all residents of Subang Jaya. Membership for Life Members is RM 100.00 and Ordinary and
Associate Members RM 12.00, renewal yearly. An admission fee will be RM 10 .00. The Club,s calendar year is from January to December.
